Two Sessions offered: 1:30 - 2:45PM

1. Restorative Practices for Tending the Movement Featuring: Katerina Friesen (Fellowship Hall)

In this workshop, participants will learn information about restorative personal and communal practices of self-care such as breath meditation, prayer with our bodies and mindful eating.

Katarina Friesen is a writer and pastor living in the St. Joseph River watershed in Elkhart, Indiana. She is passionate about building resilient communities for the many-generations-long work of healing.

2. Open Space Process on Organizing Across Historic Divisions in Elkhart County. Featuring: Connie Caiceros and Jason Shenk (Koinonia Room)

Community leaders from the Peopleâ??s History of Elkhart organization will share about organizing approaches that are â??intersectional,â?? addressing what the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King called the triple evils of racism, poverty, and militarism â?? as well as what many call the â??fourth horsemanâ?? of ecological devastation. The majority of time will then be an â??open spaceâ?? process for participants to explore how this weekendâ??s concepts can strengthen work that theyâ??re already doing (or would like to do) in Elkhart County, especially with unlikely allies.
