Sacred Soil: Reclaiming the Source of Our Food

Sacred Soil is the theme for Merry Lea's 2007 Autumn Hope Conference. For most of us, food comes from the grocery store. This event will remind us that food comes from the soil and from God. With help from a pastor, a farmer, a chef, an agroecologist and several naturalists, we will explore the ways in which our nourishment depends on healthy soil. The food we eat will be local food: grown at Merry Lea and nearby farms. One hour of academic credit is available for a course based on this conference through Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary, Elkhart, IN. Outside readings, papers and one additional meeting required. Registration: $75; $20 GC students. Lodging available at Merry Lea for an additional $15/night. Please register by September 14.
