Extra Chapel: "Spiritual Whiplash" - Shane Hipps' faith story
Shane Hipps, pastor and author (www.shanehipps.com), will be on our campus as a pastor-in-residence and presenter of themes from his book, "The Hidden Power of Electronic Culture: How Media Shapes Faith, The Gospel, and Church" from September 26-29, 2007. Shane pastor of Trinity Mennonite Church in Glendale, Arizona and lives close by with his wife, Andrea and daughter, Harper.
Before earning a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary, he was a strategic planner in advertising where he worked on a variety of national brands. The majority of his time was spent developing and implementing the multimillion dollar communications strategy for Porsche Cars North America. It was here that he first gained experience in understanding media and culture.
Shane is a member and presenter for the Media Ecology Association, an organization of scholars and laypeople who investigate the impact of communication technology and media on cultures and individuals. He is also a featured essayist for the award winning metaphilm.com, a website devoted to cultural critique and film interpretation.
