Hershberger Art Gallery - inside the GC Music Center

Jake Webster: A Conversation Between Agony and Grief | Exhibit

From Jake's artist statement and biography: "I am so moved by the people that come into my life, our shared stories become the foundation and the synergy for making art in this BIG/SMALL world. No matter how simple the solution we will find a way to make it complicated. Art allows us to communicate with one another without becoming angry and upset or shouting and shaking our fist when the topics become difficult. When others around us are saying let's be tolerant, Art says no, let us be respectful. Art helps us find that inner peace as we seek the tranquility in our physical world." "I always begin my sculpting process by writing poetry. Poetry is the fastest way for me to get an idea from my head to paper. Now that I got the idea down on paper, the sculpting begins.

When you come to view my sculptures and paintings there are two things you must know, "Art is never anything you want it to be", always ask questions, and "Beauty is never in the eye of the beholder", always ask questions."
