Reception for Visiting Scholar Carlos Cumpian

Join us in welcoming Chicago poet Carlos Cumpian back to the Goshen College campus. Cumpian is editor-in-chief of MARCH/Abrazo Press and author of COYOTE SUN (1990), ARMADILLO CHARM (1996), and LATINO RAINBOW (1994). His poems have been described as "brave, funny and passionate tales of all our lives" by acclaimed novelist Achey Obejas. Poet/activist/educator Martin Espada says, "Carlos Cumpian writes poems brimming with Chicano life, full of anger, humor, and irony. The explosive energy of [his] poems flows into a vision of justice, gleaming from the page. Cumpian cares deeply, urgently, and so will [his] readers."

Come and visit with Cumpian and peruse his writings during this free reception in the library. Refreshments will be available, and if you purchase any of Cumpian's books, this would be a good time to get them autographed!
