Music Center, Sauder Concert Hall

Maple City Chamber Orchestra Family Concert

The Maple City Chamber Orchestra will launch its 2005-2006 season with its annual children's concert at Sauder Music Hall on the campus of Goshen College at 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 18. The concert is free, and adults are also welcome to attend. The concert features the Midwestern debut of Rumplestiltzkin a musical interpretation of the popular fairy tale. Rumplestiltzkin, said Brian Mast, the orchestra's musical director, is a terrific new work by composer Grant Cooper, the artistic director and conductor of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, and the resident conductor of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestras. He was looking for something new for a childrens concert. After growing tired of trying to find new music for childrens concerts, he gave up and wrote his own work.
