The Alferd Packer Memorial String Band

The Alferd Packer Memorial String Band is an acoustic based Bluegrass/Roots band with banjos, fiddles, hammered dulcimer and mandolin. They do an eclectic mix of old-time string band songs as well as contemporary acoustic and original music. They just completed their latest CD, "Pi." They have been performing in Kansas for over 20 years as a band and for 8 years with the current line-up of members. In April they were featured on the CBS Sunday Morning Show for their unique April 16, tax night performance and contra dance at their local post office. Just last week they were notified by the Walnut Valley Music Festival in Winfield, KS that their band members had won 2 first place and 3 second place awards in the music festival's songwriting contest. Refreshments, provided by Java Junction, will be available for purchase during the concert. The cost of the concert is $5 at the door; free with a student ID.
