Lifelong Learning Institute - Folklore Here and Now

You will study how customs and oral traditions infuse our lives, starting with the best examples - from family folklore. You will be invited to write down examples from your own family's lore (optional) and publish it in a class anthology. You will study urban legends and discover that we moderns are as prone to believe in bizarre phenomena as our ancestors were. Optional readings will give us legends to tell and consider in class. Expect at least one field trip - to the home of a folk artist, to a grassroots program of folk music, and/or to examine folk architecture in barns and log houses.

This class meets April 17, 19, 24, 26.

Cost: $40 - call the Welcome Center to register.
