Telling Our Stories: 3rd Intercollegiate Women's Conference

The 3rd Intercollegiate Women's Conference, "Telling Our Stories," is being hosted by the Women's Studies program and GSWA. The weekend events will feature GC women faculty and several guest speakers who will talk about their experience collecting and sharing women's stories. Between keynote presentations to the large group, women may participate in small-group workshops and seminars that will address topics and issues related to women's experience. Keynote speakers are Wynne Brown, author of MORE THAN PETTICOATS: REMARKABLE ARIZONA WOMEN, and Evie Yoder Miller, author of EYES AT THE WINDOW: A NOVEL. GC presenters include professors Jan Bender Shetler on her research for TELLING OUR OWN STORIES: LOCAL HISTORIES FROM SOUTH MARA, TANZANIA; Ann Hostetler on her C. Henry Smith lecture "Mennonites, Indians, Poetry and Peace: Anna Ruth Ediger Baehr and the Southern Cheyenne"; Ruth Krall on her archival work on Nelle Morton, pioneer feminist theologian; and Pat McFarlane on the Mennonite Women of Color Oral History project. Friday evening will include a welcome, film, and open discussion. Saturday will include keynote presentations at breakfast and lunch, with workshops, seminars, and special activities throughout the day. The conference will close with a dinner, short program, and open mic for music, poetry,and story telling. Cost will include a modest registration fee and meals.
