Women in the Mennonite Exodus from Ukraine Exhibit

Each painting depicts and honors an individual Mennonite woman whose life was horribly disrupted by the Russian revolution of 1917, civil war, collectivization, famine, and displacement during and following World War II. These women came to Canada, often with children but no husband or adult male relative, and created a new life for themselves and their families. Each painting is fully documented with family history. On loan from the Mennonite Heritage Centre Gallery in Winnipeg, where Dirks is curator. The paintings come to Goshen College from the Mennonite World Conference Global Assembly in July 2015. Free admission For open days and hours, call 574-535-7418 Sponsored by the Mennonite-Amish Museum Committee of Goshen College Anna Wiebe, curator
