"Town Meeting on the Middle East"

The Yoder Public Affairs Lecture Committee and the League of Women Voters of Elkhart County will jointly sponsor this event. The presenters for this program will be two representatives from the U.S. Department of State.

Thomas Fingar is Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, Bureau of Intelligence and Research. His responsibilities include supervision of analytical work on every country and region as well as transnational issues, i.e., trade, refugees, arms transfers, and weapons of mass destruction.

Marc J. Sievers is Deputy Director, Office of Lebanon, Jordan and Syria Affairs, Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs. He returned to the Department in August of 2001 following a tour as political officer at U.S. Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Fingar and Sievers will present the case for the United States' current foreign policy in the Middle East. There will be time for questions and an opportunity for dialogue.

There is no cost and the public is invited to attend.
