Vocation workshop with Carrie Newcomer

Nationally acclaimed Indiana native folksinger/songwriter Carrie Newcomer will lead a vocation workshop, "Living with Intention," for GC students at her alma mater from 10 a.m.-noon on Jan. 29.

Newcomer believes that how we walk this life does make a difference -- that every individual has unique and valuable gifts, and that our work is more effective the more authentic our lives.

The workshop will offer participants the opportunity to:
-engage in thoughtful dialogue about living mindfully and the presence of the sacred in their daily lives.
-honor their personal story and develop a unique creative voice.
-develop a writing practice.
-expand knowledge of song structure and form.
-explore vocation, activism and art.

Newcomer has been telling stories and blending diverse musical styles for nearly two decades, influenced by "singing poets" as well as by the R&B and rock 'n roll she heard growing up within the range of Chicago's radio waves.

The cost of the workshop is $5. Contact Becky Horst with questions about registration. Space for the workshop is limited.

The workshop is sponsored by the CALL project of Goshen College. The CALL project encourages students to explore their vocation as a response to God's call to become servant leaders for the church and the world.
