Umble Master Class: Leslie Bentley

Dr. Leslie Bentley of Alburquerque, New Mexico, will be on campus as this year's master teacher in theater. Bentley will focus on theater for social change utilizing acting exercises and improv techniques to address issues of importance to the Goshen community. She has worked directly with Brazilian acting theorist Augusto Boal in various settings since 1994 with a particular focus on his work with "Theater of the Oppressed." Bentley has her M.A. from Emerson College (Boston, MA) and her Ph.D. from Bowling Green State University. The master class week begins with a Tuesday evening public keynote address at 7:00 pm in Umble Center followed by several days of class visits, workshops and informal conversations with students and faculty.
