Performing Arts - Swingle Singers
Started in the early sixties by Ward Single, this French acappela group hit the charts with unusual, jazzy arrangements of classics, particularly Bach. For 30 years this group has been performing for audiences worldwide. Eight remarkable voices become a symphony orchestra, a big band, a cathedral organ or a rock group. The year 2000 marks the 250th anniversary of the death of Bach and to mark the event, the Swingle Swingers have commissioned seven composers to write Bach-inspired pieces to perform along with classic arrangements.
