Purpose: To create a relaxing, comfortable, fun environment for Deaf and hearing people to gather. Many hearing people are learning about Deaf people, their language, and culture in a classroom setting. This coffeehouse experience takes learning into a normal community environment. It provides a place to bring language learners and language users together without intrusion into the private events of the Deaf community.

Communication: There will be no spoken interpretation of stories. It is expected that everyone will use American Sign Language to the best of their ability. Come experience an environment free of the spoken language.

This event is coordinated by the 4 year ASL Interpreter Training Program of Goshen College. For more information about Goshens ASL/ITP check out www.goshen.edu/asl or contact Myron Yoder, Assistant Professor at 574-535-7382 or myronry@goshen.edu.
