Lifelong Learning Institute - World War II Perspectives and Stories

Owen Hess will share ways in which World War II was formative in his life and contributed to his decision to complete a History major in college prior to a career in medicine. In the past 50 years he has pursued reading on this topic. Recent books adding to the scholarship of the period will be noted. Class members and guests with varied experiences in both military and alternative service will be invited to share their views and to reflect on how this event altered their lives. The Ken Burns documentary on World War II being aired on television will also inform our discussion.

Classes will be held October 29, 31, November 5, 7, 1-2:30 pm in the Goshen College Music Center, Room 110.
