Tech and Social Transformation: The Best and Worst Impacts of Technology on Peace and Democracy in 2024

From AI to social media, technology will bring dramatic risks to elections and war zones globally in 2024. But new platforms like Pol.is and Remesh have the potential to transform how humans listen to and make decisions with each other. Based on her work with tech companies and critics, Dr. Schirch will offer an analysis of the most dangerous trends in technology. Then she'll turn to the good new; how new tech platforms are aiding civil society peacebuilding efforts from Jerusalem to Afghanistan.

Lisa is a professor of peacebuilding and technology at the University of Notre Dame where she directs the Peacetech and Polarization Lab. She taught at Eastern Mennonite University's Center for Justice and Peacebuilding for 25 years.
