Laurie S. Rousseau Exhibit Opening Reception

Laurie's work explores ancient Goddess figurines, some of the oldest art that exists. She has used images of the Goddess and her artifacts as a point of departure because she is inspired by these symbols of female power. Laurie's imagery seeks to express the hidden potential of the feminine for transformation and celebrate the female form as a creator of life and a connection to the earth. Her most recent artworks are an exploration of the energy of feminine spirit and its potential for healing, hope and change.

Laurie S. Rousseau has been an art educator for over 30 years. She currently teaches art at Good Shepherd Montessori School, and creates her work at Taylor Street Art Studio in South Bend, Indiana. Her focus is on figurative and botanical artwork using the mediums of drawing, painting, collage, photocopies and printmaking. She is interested in the climate crisis, environmental toxins, and the connections between all things.

The opening reception for Laurie's exhibit, Aspects of the Feminine, will be held on Sunday, January 12, beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the Abner Hershberger Art Gallery inside the Goshen College Music Center. An artist talk will begin at 3:00 p.m.. Light refreshments will be served. Ample free parking is located just outside the Music Center.
