Exhibit: "A Retrospective" by Goshen College Associate Professor of Art Judy Wenig-Horswell

After more than 32 years of teaching at Goshen College, Associate Professor of Art Judy Wenig-Horswell is offering a retrospective look at her work as the featured artist.

The exhibit features Wenig-Horswell's drawings, but her work in other media will also be showcased. It spans her career with works predating her tenure at Goshen College and those to the present time. The collection of art features drawings, paintings, sculpture, ceramic work and jewelry.

Many of the drawings, which Wenig-Horswell considers her foundational medium, revolve around nature, a theme that she explains can be traced back to her childhood growing up on a farm surrounded by nature.

Another strong influence in her drawing is her travels around the world. Many of her drawings feature subject matter from Africa, Europe, Japan and Central America. The influences of nature and travels abroad can also be seen in her sculpture and jewelry pieces.

There will be an artist's reception on Friday, Oct. 3 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the gallery during the college's Homecoming Weekend.

The Hershberger Art Gallery, located in the Goshen College Music Center, is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, except during school vacations. The building is accessible to people using wheelchairs and others with physical limitations.
